I fell into hard drugs and alcohol at around 14 and this continued into my older teens. This ultimately ended up in me joining the army. While on deployment in Afghanistan rockets and mortars were falling almost every night and I began to talk to the sky in the bunker, asking God to save me, hoping he was listening. I was telling him I’d never smoke another cigarette again. Well he got me out and of course I continued to smoke. When I got back I had a huge drinking problem that led me to getting kicked out. I was lost and couldn’t keep a job. One day I got on my knees next to my bed and asked Jesus for a sign that he was real. In a vivid dream, I was walking through a field in Afghanistan with two soldiers, and there was a bright flash of light. When I could see, there were dead bodies everywhere and everything was on fire. A voice called out, “Is this real enough for you?” I immediately woke up with my heart racing. I bowed my head and told Jesus I would follow him. The next day I was talking with a pastor. Jesus saved me from drugs, alcohol, lust and every other bad thing from my past. I'm made new through Him and I can't believe that I ever lived without him.
